Install Rear Defroster in Non Rear Defroster Car

Enjoy your new FACTORY installed rear window defroster!
Locate the yellow wire that runs from defrost switch through the firewall and connects to the starter relay. fig 11
Pull this and the grommet out from the firewall side after disconnection from the starter relay. fig 12
You might have a problem around the heater box.
You may have to loosen up (not remove) all the mounting points to get the wire through.

Find a car with really good looking a HVAC control faceplate with defrost switch.
Make sure faceplate matches the year car you will be installing into. fig 8
Remove instrument panel trim. Remove HVAC control panel.
You might have to reach undeneath to disconnect the wiring and the vent box cable.
The plastic vent cable clip slides up to remove. fig 9
Set the control panel with the other stuff you are taking.

Remove and fish out the grey wire with yellow stripe from the defrost switch down to the drivers side kick panel. fig 10
Remove kick panel and door sill plate the wire runs along the side under the carpet to the trunk.
Check the wire diagram for more wiring info. you will need this for the install. diag 1
Find the white wire with pink stripe that runs from the defrost switch to the fuse box.
Fish out from connection near the fuse panel.
Should be a bullet connector plugged into a yellow "Y" socket. Get the Y-adapter too.
Remove kick panel and door sill plate the wire runs along the side under the carpet to the trunk.
Check the wire diagram for more wiring info. you will need this for the install. diag 1

Fish out from connection near the fuse panel.

Now take all the parts home and put them in your car!
That is just the reverse of removing them with 1 modification to the car.
