Somebody shoot out your rear non-defroster window like they did mine?
Do you want to add a rear defroster window to your non-defroster car?
What you will need:
Rear window with defrost grid and connected wires.
Ground mounting screw
Yellow power wire with fusable link and grommet
White wire with pink stripe with Y-connector
Grey wire with yellow stripe
HVAC dash control with defroster switch
Here is how I did it:
Find a car with a rear window with defrost grid that will interchange with the window you are going to replace.
Look at it carefully and make sure the grid is not broken anywhere before removing. fig 1
Also check to make sure the attaching clips and wire are not broken. fig 2
Open the trunk, on the passenger side, remove screw holding the black ground wire from window to brace. Put it in your pocket. fig 3
On the drivers side, unplug the connector with the grey wire with the yellow stripe on it remove connector from brace. fig 4
While in the trunk remove the speed nuts holding the package tray moulding down.
Also remove the clips holding the piece of trim at the bottom of the rear window remove and set it inside the trunk. fig 5
Close trunk and remove the other 3 pieces of metal trim from around the rear window using the proper trim removal tools. fig 6
Remove back seat, remove the screws holding the package tray in.
Carefully bring up the 2 wires connected to the window from the trunk. Do not break them off the window.
Remove window with standard windshield removing tools. fig 7
Be careful not to break the power and ground wires off of the window.
